S-mid — Worth Starting.
S-mid, graded on the story and its execution rather than English prose it was never written in: the repetitive word choice and thinner description are the translation tax every imported series pays, and I refuse to bill the author for it. What's under the tax is five-ish tightly plotted books from an author who knew the whole arc before he started, delivering the genre's purest just-let-him-be-the-badass experience with total commitment. What it does best. The Superman problem, solved structurally instead of ignored. And momentum: no wasted volumes, no filler arcs, a complete story that ends.
Where it sags. Prose texture, per the translation tax above. And if perpetual underdog tension is what you listen for, this is deliberately the other thing.

Yes. The main arc is finished, which makes this one of the genre's rare bounded commitments: eight volumes, a real ending, and an anime victory lap waiting when you're done.
